Day 1 of Opening My Dream Bookshop

I’ve given myself two years from today to open a bookshop in my hometown of Towcester, and I’m going to do everything in my power to make it happen.

That’s 730 days.

Why a bookshop? I hear you ask.

Well, let me explain.

Firstly, books and reading are a huge passion in my life. You’ll soon come to realise that I live and breathe books. I firmly believe that reading unlocks imagination and creativity in both children and adults alike. With all the stresses and strains of modern life, I think everyone deserves the chance to escape into the pages of a book and be transported somewhere new.

Secondly, I want to build a business that inspires generations. I want to create a space away from the constant hum of technology, somewhere people can walk into and instantly feel calm, excited, and ready to discover their next great read. I want to involve my children in that journey and create something that works around family life, school runs, and all the wonderful chaos that comes with raising a family, rather than being confined to my home or a traditional office environment.

Lastly, this journey is for my soul.

I want to leave my mark on a little corner of the town where I grew up. I want to create something meaningful and give back to the community that has shaped so much of who I am. If I can build a place that brings people together through stories, imagination, and a shared love of reading, then I will have achieved far more than simply opening a shop.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of reasons, but these are my top three today.

So here we are.
