Hi everyone! Hope you’re all managing to take some time out to get some reading done! It’s good for the soul!
I really enjoyed Heart of Chaos!
The first thing that surprised me was how quickly I got through it. It was much shorter than I expected, although that might just be because once I started reading, I didn’t want to put it down!
When I reached the final page, I definitely wasn’t ready for it to end. In fact, my immediate thought was that I wanted to pick up the next book straight away.
One of the things I enjoyed most was the way the characters were written. The author reveals information gradually, rather than giving everything away at once. Even by the end of the book, there are still plenty of mysteries to uncover and a lot more to learn about both the characters and the world they’ve found themselves in.
The magic system was particularly interesting. Chaos isn’t simply something to be feared. It’s the force that created the world, the magic that lives within the dragons, and the power carried in the blood of the humans who can bond with them.
And let’s be honest, dragons were always going to be a win for me. 🐉
Nordic-inspired language occasionally tripped me up and had me rereading the odd word, but rather than distracting from the story, I felt it added depth and authenticity to the world the author has created.
Without giving away any spoilers, if you enjoy dragons, magic, mystery and stories that leave you wanting more, I’d definitely recommend giving Heart of Chaos a read.
🔮 Predictions vs Reality

✅ The world-building left me wanting more.
✅ I became invested in the characters.
✅ I immediately wanted Book 2.
Final Verdict
This wasn’t quite a 5-star read for me, but it was a very solid 4-star fantasy that kept me engaged from start to finish and left me eager to continue the series.
And honestly, wanting to jump straight into the next book is probably one of the biggest compliments I can give.
Current mood: Trying very hard not to immediately buy the next book.
